Who Are God's Enemies?

The Book of Jude: Who are God's Enemies?

  1. Know who you are in Christ.

  2. Destroy the lies of the enemies of Jesus who are in the church.

  3. History reveals God’s judgment on unbelief.

  4. _______________________________of God’s enemies.

Woe to them! They have gone the way of Cain. They have abandoned themselves for hire to the error of Balaam. They perished in Korah’s rebellion. (Jud 11)
6 The Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why do you have that angry look on your face? 7 If you do good, will you not be lifted up? If you do not do good, sin is crouching at the door. It has a strong desire for you, but you must rule over it.” (Ge 4:6–7)
21 “You have heard that it was said to people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause will be subject to judgment, and whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca,’ will have to answer to the Sanhedrin. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of hell fire. (Mt 5:21–22)
51 When the days were approaching for him to be taken up, Jesus was determined to go to Jerusalem. 52 He sent messengers ahead of him. They went and entered a Samaritan village to make preparations for him. 53 But the people did not welcome him, because he was determined to go to Jerusalem. 54 When his disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do you want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them?” 55 But he turned and rebuked them. “You don’t know what kind of spirit is influencing you.” (Lk 9:51–55)
The wages of sin is death. (Ro 3:23b)
46 About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Mt 27:46)
When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished!” Then, bowing his head, he gave up his spirit. (Jn 19:30)
Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing. (Lk 23:34a)
God made him, who did not know sin, to become sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in him. (2 Co 5:21)
5a He sent messengers to summon Balaam ... He said, “Look, a people came out of Egypt. They cover the surface of the land, and they are settling right across from me. 6 Please come now. Curse this people for me, for they are more powerful than I am. Perhaps I will succeed and strike them down, driving them out of the land, for I know that whomever you bless is blessed, and whomever you curse is cursed.” (Nu 22:5a-6)
1 Now Korah, who was the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, joined with Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and with On, the son of Peleth. These three were descendants of Reuben. They gathered 2 two hundred fifty well-known Israelites, tribal chiefs of the community, appointed representatives who served on the council, and they rose up against Moses. 3 They assembled together against Moses and Aaron and said to them, “You have gone too far! For the entire community is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them! Why do you lift yourselves up above the Lord’s assembly?” (Nu 16:1–3)
31 As soon as he finished speaking all these words, the ground beneath them split open. 32 The earth opened its mouth and swallowed up everyone who was with Korah, along with their households and all their possessions. 33 So they and everything that belonged to them went down alive into the grave. The earth closed up over them, and they disappeared from the midst of the assembly. (Nu 16:31–33)
... these men treated the LORD with contempt” (Nu 16:30b)
Jesus said to him, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.” (Jn 14:6)

Points to Ponder

  1. What is one thing that stood out to you from this week's message?

  2. How good are you at keeping the 5th Commandment? Why did you answer that way? What do you need to do differently?

  3. What commandment is your biggest struggle? Why is this such a struggle for you? What do you need to do differently?

  4. What do we need to do to prevent and/or identify false doctrine in our Church? Why do you believe we need to do this?
